There was that "little awkwardness in the dynamic between the crowd and the legendary artist" too. The "hoots and hollers" and young Anglo girls up front displaying their enticing dance were totally ill-fitting. Un-house-trained ccoyotes baying at a brilliant moon.
RudyGAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9367921.post-69196470540993046692013-05-01T08:51:07.232-06:002013-05-01T08:51:07.232-06:00We saw Rodriguez in concert last night here in Bro...We saw Rodriguez in concert last night here in Broomfield, outside Denver, Colorado. They had to accomodate him in a larger space than where he was originally booked. I was glad to have read your bloga beforehand, and appreciate everything you express. As far as the crowd, there were both young and old, but it was overwhelming white which surprised us slightly. We compared the demographics to that of some indie film fest or other liberal culture magnet. As such, I felt there was a little awkwardness in the dynamic between the crowd and the legendary artist. His low-key, super-cool persona inspired some of us to just soak in his presence quietly while others felt inspired to hoot and holler albeit hesitatingly. Toward the end, many in the crowd simply shouted "Thank you!" I couldn't agree more.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01336877954366343383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9367921.post-36195911278431561572013-04-29T14:45:03.469-06:002013-04-29T14:45:03.469-06:00Rudy, I had never heard of Sixto, and I can believ...Rudy, I had never heard of Sixto, and I can believe the reasons you cite for the people of our country not having heard of him either. You express your interpretations in such a poetic, heartfelt way here. The human touch is always powerful.

We women always talk about the proverbial "glass ceiling," which is still so strong or impenetrable in the 21st century, sad to say. But we forget that there have been, and continue to be, so many "glass ceilings" for so many worthy groups of people who have been held down or ignored because of their group/class membership. All this still happening in the great democracy of the world called the United States. Too much hypocrisy, irony, and dissonance to absorb!Thelma T.
