Latin@ Writers at the 2015 Texas Book Festival

More than 300 writers will convene in Austin next month for the 20th edition of the Texas Book Festival.

The festival will take place October 17-18th
at the State Capitol and surrounding grounds.

The lineup shows a strong representation of Latino writers, among them Sandra Cisneros, Luis Alberto Urrea, Sarah Cortez, Xavier Garza, Mónica Brown, Raúl Colón, Gwendolyn Zepeda, Manuel Ramos AND Pat Mora, who will receive this year's prestigious Texas Writer Award.

(Read Liliana Valenzuela's article
about Pat Mora's award here)

So many Latin@ writers listed in this year's program--poets, mystery, children's, bloggers, foodies... I've only mentioned a few, so make sure you check out the full lineup and rejoice!

According to organizers, the festival draws about 40,000 people over two days, with talks, readings and panels in a variety of genres as well as cooking demos, family activities and live music. All free and open to the public.

This year, the festival will include more opportunities for readers and writers to interact by introducing the program "yoga, kayak or bike with an author." Look out for the list on the TBF webpage in the coming weeks.

A junte of Latin@ writers is also in the works. Stay tuned for details.

See you in Austin!
