Celebrate the release of a special issue of
Indigenous women's literary journal, As/Us dedicated to centering
voices of women of color and gender non-conforming people of color in higher
education. Edited by Prof. Ramona Beltran, this special issue is
a response to recent (and ongoing) events around the country illuminating
the persistent effects of racism in academia. It includes diverse voices
echoing the very real experiences of racism and intersectional violence and
also offers creative, hopeful and nuanced solutions to the most pressing
issues of inequality in our institutions of higher learning.
The event will feature performances from
contributors, artwork, creative expression, copies for sale, and food by Tocabe
- An American Indian Eatery. A portion of the proceeds
of book sales will be donated to Cafe Cultura.
When: Friday, May 20th 6:30-8:30PM
Where: Boettcher Foundation Community Room
Graduate School of Social Work, Craig Hall
University of Denver
2148 S. High St.
Denver, CO 80208
If you are unable to attend the event but want
