The city and Southland’s
free books-and-authors festival returns for its 7th year with two days of
panels, discussions, readings, workshops, performances, and literary
activities. Over 200 authors and special guest speakers will appear in over 60
events from the afternoon into the late evening. LitFest Pasadena is held
throughout the historic Pasadena Playhouse District at Vroman’s Bookstore, the
Pasadena Playhouse, and other local establishments. Check out the full schedule of great panels.
A late afternoon to
evening experience, Rosalind Helfand, LitFest Pasadena Festival Director, says,
“The Pasadena Playhouse District is the perfect place for a literary festival.
It’s filled with great restaurants, theaters, beautiful courtyards, and
historic architecture. From the afternoon into the evening under the
streetlamps, guests will be treated to a diverse and sumptuous literary
experience.”
And there will be a
special treat for readers of our humble blog: you may join several members of La Bloga for a panel
titled, “Chicanx and Latinx Community. Banned, Sometimes Buried, But Always
Online” on Saturday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at The Andalucia, 686
E. Union St. La Bloga will be
represented on this panel by Olga Garcia, René Colato Laínez, Michael Sedano,
Melinda Palacio, and yours truly, Daniel Olivas.
